The subclavian vein. This vein is a continuation of the axillary vein and the main venous
stem of the arm and shoulder region. It follows the subclavian artery tightly beneath the clavicle and joins with the internal jugular vein to form the brachiocephalic vein. The subclavian vein is one of the central veins that can be used for the administration of TPN admixtures via a central venous catheter. |
