SEROTONIN PRINT

5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT). A molecule that is widely distributed in the body tissues, occurring in particularly high concentrations in blood platelets, in the wall of the gastrointestinal tract, and in the central nervous system. It is thought to play a role in inflammation. In the central nervous system, it is released from nerve endings during the transmission of nerve impulses.
