SELDINGER TECHNIQUE PRINT

Technique for the indirect insertion of a catheter:
After puncturing the vessel with a cannula, a guide wire is introduced through this cannula into the vessel. After withdrawing the cannula while the guide wire stays in place, a catheter is pushed over the guide wire into the vessel. Then the guide wire is withdrawn and the catheter is ready for use.
