A term referring to the hydrogen ion (H+) concentration or activity of a solution.
It denotes the negative logarithm of this concentration. pH 7 is neutral; values above 7 indicate a degree of alkalinity and values below 7 indicate a degree of acidity. The normal pH of blood serum is 7.35-7.45.
