A tuft or cluster; used in anatomical nomenclature as a general term to designate such a structure, as one composed of blood vessels or nerve fibers. Often used alone to designate one of the glomeruli of the kidney, a network of blood capillaries that form the primary site of filtration of waste products from the bloodstream.
