DIALYSIS PRINT

The process of separating large molecules in solution from smaller molecules using a semipermeable membrane. In medicine, this process is used for the removal of waste substances from the blood of patients with kidney dysfunction either via - an artificial kidney (hemodialysis) or by - instilling fluid into the abdominal cavity and then removing it (peritoneal dialysis); in this case, the peritoneal membrane is used as a filter.
